Has there ever been a time in your life where you knew beyond a doubt that you were supposed to do something? I'm talking about the kind of knowing that either comes like a still, small voice whispering from a corner of your heart or sometimes like a neon sign. And doesn't it seem like there's usually a set of obstacles and circumstances that try to keep us from moving forward into that place where God is calling?
Then we are faced with a decision. Give in to the resistance in the form of the babysitter who cancels, the modest bank account, the piles of laundry or even the feeling like we won't belong, or go where we feel drawn, trusting completely in the One that is leading us.
Last fall, I had to choose. I knew that I was supposed to attend the Propel Women event in Dallas, but the circumstances of my life were in intense competition with my obedience. When every single natural indication was screaming "No!" the Spirit was breathing "Go".
So on two hours sleep, and at least a pot of coffee in my system, my sweet friend and Propel Chapter co-leader and I made the drive from Houston to Dallas with much anticipation (and caffeination!). On the way, we asked God to move among us and to bring freedom, wholeness and healing to everyone attending.
And He Did.
As we experienced soul saturating worship followed by the teaching of the incredibly anointed speaking team (women whose lives and ministries have impacted my life in too many ways to mention) the Lord began to speak this relatively simple word to my heart: ONE.
"ONE word from God can change your life forever."
If there's anything I've learned in the twenty-seven years I've known the Lord, it's that His language is truth and His words always bring life. I have no doubt that so many, if not every woman at the event heard a life-changing word from God through a song or a speaker! Within the day of worship and teaching, I could just imagine God slipping handwritten notes of encouragement and faith to each of His daughters, assuring them of His love and that He is indeed for them!
"You are ONE in a million"
Just like no two women on the speaking team are alike, (I mean Lisa is not Christine is not Bianca!) we are all so different with different gifts and callings. And that's okay! It never ceases to amaze me how Propel Women never compete with or compare each other! There is just an overwhelming feeling that we are all individual "ones" with God given uniqueness and purpose that should complement every other one!
"We are ONE."
When I attended the event last fall, we were at the tail end of probably one of the most divisive times in current American history. But as I looked at the 6,000+ women surrounding me, I caught a glimpse of what heaven looks like. No hate. No division. No strife. No separation. For a brief moment I saw what the Body looks like when we are all focused solely on the One; we were a force unshakable, undeniably unified as one.
"It's all about the ONE."
Am I the only one who assumed that the Propel Women event would only be attended by believers? I'd never even considered that there would be unsaved women attending. My assumptions so were wrong. At the end of the event an invitation was given for salvation and HUNDREDS of women responded. I was wrecked with emotion as I watched each one choose to make Jesus their Lord and Savior.
Just Go
Has your heart been tugging you to go to a Propel Women event but there are things that seem to be holding you back? I'd like to quote Christine Caine and say, "Don't make decisions based on temporary circumstances" and urge you to press on! Do you have an unsaved friend who might not go to church but would possibly join you for a women's conference? Invite her! This may be when she finds the One who's been seeking her! And if you’re the one who's thinking, "This will just be another event like all the others I've gone to," I have two words to say. JUST GO!
